Merengue Bakery and Café was started by two men with completely different backgrounds but who had a common goal. They wanted to create a new restaurant concept that would capture the attention of not only the Latin culture, but also all those who’d never experienced Cuban cuisine. By combining their shared experiences, they were able to create an amazing team that covered all aspects of running a successful bakery and cafe. In doing so, they developed a fresh, new concept in hopes of growing and spreading their foods to all corners of the world.

Both veteran entrepreneurs, Mike Mulhall and George Algarin have been long time friends who recognized their synergistic qualities. Mike, a former Nascar driver, fitness club owner and web entrepreneur, and George, who provided personal security services to the stars and started working in his God Father's bakery, La Gran Via, as a child, hope to combine their skills and experiences in building a strong brand and successful business. You will almost always find Mike in his office crunching numbers and George out front smiling and greeting guests. They're love for people and business led them both to the restaurant industry, and they haven't looked back since!
